How to Find More Time for Yourself as a Busy Mother

Being a mother is one of the most fulfilling roles that you could ever hope to have. While you might not change it for the world, you do need to find some balance in your life. Taking time for self-care, or having a little bit of you time is one of the best ways for you to maintain your health overall. Unless you make time, however, you may find that you never have any. If you want to benefit yourself then the only thing you have to do is follow the steps outlined below.

Get the Whole Family to Help

While it may not be possible to get your infant to help you with the cleaning duties, toddlers can view chores as a way to help out. It also helps them to demonstrate competence as well. Toddlers often love to help to sort laundry and most of the time they can even be responsible for taking it to the right room. When your kids are finishing their meal, you might want to try and sneak in some dishes and have your kids bring in their plates when they are done. Ask your kids to pack up all of their toys before they go to bed, or make a fun game out of it. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is possible for you to get a good result all-round. If you find that you are using all of your downtime to scrub the tub or even mop the floor then scale back some of the household chores you are doing. Are you able to hire a cleaning company to help out? If so then do this, as it’ll help you to make way more time for yourself.

Adjust your Schedule

Some kids do seem to sense your waking routine and this means that they may end up waking when you do. If you can manage it then try and take an hour or two for yourself before your kids get up. This is a fantastic way for you to focus on yourself and it means you can relax a little. There are periods where kids will go through phases of night walking and if this is the case then you may find it almost impossible to get some alone time. With that in mind, you have to remember that this won’t last forever, and that soon you will be able to carve out some time for yourself.

Time-Saving Meals

In a perfect world, you may have a month’s worth of menus planned out with your grocery list. This takes time that you probably don’t have though. Breaking out the slow cooker or even the instant pot is a great way for you to work around this. You can make sure that you have a hearty dinner ready in no time at all and you also have minimal prep too. You can try and make double batches of meals if you want and this means you can have a freezer stash ready for even the busiest of days. If you have a partner at home then you can ask them to take turns with you when it comes to meal planning. This means the family is always getting great meals but at the same time, you can take advantage of having more time on your hands. If you can keep things like this in mind then it will help you out a lot going forward.

Career Change

This is a game-changer. It may or may not be possible given your current situation either. If you feel as though stress is eating away at you day after day then it’s worth making a few life adjustments. It may be that you start your own business or that you freelance. If you want, you can find a job you can do from home. Making your own products is a great idea, as you can do it in your spare time, whenever you want. You can try and take a sewing class if you want to get into this side hustle for example. When you do, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to work while having time to yourself. You can be in charge of your own schedule if you are your own boss and this is great, to say the least.

If you want to help yourself then make sure that you look into the above. When you do, you will soon find that it is easier than ever to make a change today.
