Top Tips For Keeping Your Car Clean With Kids

When you have children, keeping your car clean can be a very difficult task to accomplish. Kids, no matter their age, tend to leave a mess wherever they go. Whether it be food wrappers, clothes, toys, sporting equipment, or bodily fluids, a mess is unavoidable!

Even if you have young children in the car, you can easily keep it clean by following these simple tips.

Cover your seats

Covering your seats is a smart move if you want to prevent them from becoming dirty. A sheet of cloth can serve as a makeshift cover for your seats in the interim, but a plastic cover is a better option for a solution that will last longer.

Handle the trash

If you find that putting trash in a plastic bag in your car is not very effective, try being more creative and using different containers as a make-shift garbage can. Put a trash bag inside a bowl or cereal box and give your children the task of putting their waste in the makeshift garbage can. It is possible to get away with using shoe boxes, tissue boxes, or even small clothing baskets.

Remove odor

Even one accidental spill of the wrong substance can cause odours to become trapped in a car. Keeping a box of baking soda underneath your seats is an excellent and unorthodox suggestion for eliminating unpleasant odours that may be present in your vehicle. You can also achieve the same effect by placing an air freshener on your dashboard or behind your rearview mirror. For more stubborn smells, use a professional car odor eliminator.

Wipe down surfaces

Children of all ages are naturally inquisitive and restless, and as a result, they have a tendency to touch anything that they find interesting, leading to sticky fingerprints and grubby handprints. Use a baby wipe to clean these surfaces. Since they are so small and compact, you can easily store a pack of them in the centre console or glove box of your vehicle.

Vacuum regularly

Even though it might not be the most convenient thing to do, making it a point to vacuum out your car once every few months will improve the way your car looks and smells. It gets rid of those irritating cookie crumbs and dried mud on the floor and seats.

Try an organizer You might want to think about installing a travel organizer in the trunk of your vehicle in order to keep the toys, snacks, extra clothes, tissues, and Band-Aids that your children bring along, as well as anything else that you need and that ends up on the floor, in an orderly fashion.

Use a stain remover

If your seats are upholstered in cloth, you need to take extra precautions to prevent stains. We recommend you always keep a stain remover in your automobile, such as a Tide Stick. Mix a small amount of dish soap, half a cup of club soda, and half a cup of vinegar together and squirt some of the dish soap into the mixture. You will have the ideal stain remover at your disposal to eliminate any stain that is resistant to removal. Just store it in the trunk in a water or spray bottle, and cross your fingers that you will not ever need to use it!
