Although it may be tempting to sit back, relax, and enjoy the sunshine, it’s essential for you to get some important exterior maintenance completed first. People tend to pay a lot of attention to the upkeep of the inside of their homes and forget that the exterior is just as important. The outside of your home is important for both the safety of your home and the look.

The list below should help you to get your home’s exterior in good shape, so, you can get back to relaxing.
Repair And Clean The Deck
With the majority of decks, a decent clean may be all it needs to get it ready to enjoy, however, once it has been cleaned it’s best to check it over for any other maintenance requirements. If you have cracks, decay, or lose boards, you will need a little more work. When washing your deck, pay close attention to any areas that seem to hold onto moisture, as this could be a sign of early decay, and you want to get this sorted as soon as you can.
You should also look out for wood that is spongy and soft, as this could indicate it’s not safe for use. Any small holes can be a sign of insects such as termites. If any of the protective coatings on your deck or it hasn’t been protected the year before it’s a good idea to apply a new waterproof coating after you have cleaned it.
Clear Out The Window Wells And Gutters
All kinds of debris such as petals, leaves, seeds, and more can accumulate in your window wells and gutters throughout the year and cause you problems. Clear any debris that has built up and allow any rainwater to run freely away from your home. Before you start make sure you check that no wildlife has chosen to create a home in your well.
Check Your Roof
Whether you feel confident to check on a ladder to check your roof or would prefer to stand at a distance to look it over, make sure you check it once a year. There could be a variety of things that you need to get completed to ensure that your home is secure such as replacing damaged tiles, repairing cracks, re-painting, or replacing entirely using a metal roofing supplier.
Caulk Any Cracks
Have a look and feel around your windows and doors can you see or feel any gaps or drafts? If you can you need to take action. Reapplying caulk to these areas can prevent leaks and drafts. You may also want to think about adding weather stripping to your doors for added protection.
These are four easy tasks that need to be carried out at least once a year. Although it can be tempting to jump straight into relaxing, it is important for you to take care of the outside of your home, just like the inside.
